Say, pregnant and parturient women's death mainly has 4 reasons, bleeding postpartum, infection, hypertension and unsafe induced abortion. In 2008, nearly 1000 women die of these complications every day in the whole world, mainly centre in Africa and South Asia country.

Though is still far from millennium development goal of the United Nations, Margaret Chan, Secretary General of WHO, thinks, pregnant and parturient women's mortality drops in an all-round way encouragingly, pregnant and parturient women's gestation or country that gave birth to the death with higher risk has taken a great deal of effective measures, have trained more midwives, has strengthened the strength of health organs such as the hospital,etc..

Rec of Anthony, executive director of United Nations Children's Fund says in a joint communique released on the same day, in order to further improve pregnant and parturient women's health status, save more women's lives, the international community should make more efforts, offer medical attendance for those gestation or women giving birth to the death with higher risk, these women include pregnant and parturient women who live in the country of chaos caused by war, remote area or poor family and pregnant and parturient women who carry HIV,etc..
